A fall festival, farm animals and a rainy-day backup

Sunday at Yellow Springs, a farm outing in Glenmoore, or pretend play in Exton. Plus a free October 17 festival with an entrance you need to know about.

Here are three different ways to get out together: a dated event for Sunday, October 11, an outdoor option, and an indoor backup. Pick what fits your family. There is also one October 17 outing to book ahead.

Sunday: Historic Yellow Springs Fall Festival

October 11 · noon–4 p.m. · Chester Springs · free admission

The village's fall festival brings together live music, tours, crafts and pumpkin activities. The organizer says it runs rain or shine.

Before you go: check the official schedule for the activities you want. Free admission does not establish that every extra is free.

See the official festival details. Event information checked October 10.

An outdoor option: Springton Manor Farm

Glenmoore · free admission · farm animals and walking

Our curated place notes describe cows, goats and chickens, open fields and a walking loop. Choose this when an outdoor wander sounds better than an event schedule.

Before you go: animal access and opening notices can change. We have not confirmed restroom availability; call ahead if that determines your plan.

Get the farm's address, official website and visit notes.

Rainy-day backup: Imagination Street

Exton · pretend play for ages 1–7 · paid, session-based visits

A miniature city with themed playhouses gives kids somewhere to play shop, be a vet or make up a story. Adults stay and supervise.

Before you book: adults pay too. The venue recommends reservations; a missing calendar slot means it is sold out or unavailable. Children 8 and older may accompany family but cannot play in the city.

See the place guide and booking link. Age and booking rules checked against the official FAQ October 10.

Looking ahead: October 17 at Stroud Preserve

Fall Festival & Connect · Saturday, October 17 · 1–5 p.m. · West Chester

This free event includes music, crafts and a costume parade. RSVP is required.

The detail to save: use the special event entrance at 449 Lucky Hill Road, then follow event signs and volunteers to parking behind the barn. Use the event's directions rather than the preserve's usual trailhead.

RSVP and check the event directions. Event information checked October 10.
