P.J. Whelihan's Pub + Restaurant

Sports bar vibes, which means loud TVs and a kitchen that moves fast — two things that actually work in your favor with kids. The kids menu is solid, portions are large, and nobody cares what your four-year-old is doing. Better with kids who are old enough to enjoy the chaos than with very young toddlers.

P.J. Whelihan's is the loud, no-judgment option for family dinner. It's a sports bar in a strip mall on Wilmington Pike, which doesn't sound like a recommendation but genuinely is — the noise floor is already high, the kids menu is better than you'd expect, and the staff is the kind that brings extra napkins without being asked. Wings are the move for adults. Grilled cheese and mac for the under-six crowd. Nobody's judging you for anything here.
