Pumpkin races & a free museum Sunday

Four plans for October 30–November 1, plus Downingtown’s Halloween hours, an Exton indoor backup and a sensory-friendly date to register for.

For October 30–November 1, save Sunday for pumpkin races or free museum music. Saturday offers a final pumpkin-farm visit or drop-in wildlife science before Halloween evening.

The weekend shortlist

Yellow Springs Fall Festival

SUN NOV 1 · noon–4 p.m. · Chester Springs · FREE admission · All ages

Pumpkin painting, treat-bag decorating, music and a village scavenger hunt. Pumpkin Classic races start at 2:45 p.m. This is the rescheduled October 11 festival; update any saved calendar entry.

Art + Ants on a Log at Brandywine

SUN NOV 1 · art 10 a.m.–2 p.m. · Chadds Ford · FREE admission

Make art, then catch interactive music at 11:15 a.m. or 12:15 p.m. Preregister for art and arrive by 1 p.m.; gallery admission needs no registration. Choose this for an indoor Sunday.

Milky Way Farm’s final harvest Saturday

SAT OCT 31 · 10 a.m.–5 p.m. · Chester Springs · $5/person ages 3+; hayrides +$5/person; pumpkins extra

The two-hour admission includes the corn maze, farm animals and a walk to the pumpkin patch. Buy general-admission tickets through the farm’s link. The listed harvest season ends October 31.

Skulls, Bones, Horns and Antlers

SAT OCT 31 · 10 a.m.–2 p.m. · Ridley Creek State Park, nearby Media · FREE

Compare wildlife skulls and antlers with a park naturalist at a trailside exhibit. No registration. Find the Multi-Use Trail Outdoor Classroom at the stone bridge below the mansion.

Halloween timing to save: Downingtown Borough lists neighborhood trick-or-treating for Saturday, October 31, 6–8 p.m. Treat this as the borough’s neighborhood window, rather than a staffed festival or a promise that every home participates.

Beyond the events

Rainy-day backup: Imagination Street in Exton

111 Dowlin Forge Road · Paid, session-based pretend play · Geared to ages 1–8

The miniature city’s themed playhouses suit kids who want to play shop, be a vet or invent a story. Check the live booking calendar before setting off: missing sessions are sold out or unavailable, and walk-ins cannot be accommodated when full.

Budget for adults too, and plan to stay and supervise. The current official FAQ says children 9 and older may accompany family but cannot play in the city. Open-play bookings are non-cancellable; contact the venue about moving a reservation to another date.

Book ahead

Sensory-friendly Brandywine Railroad evening
