Stroud Preserve
Beautiful nature preserve with a mix of open meadow and wooded trails. The 1-mile loop right off the parking lot is the easy family option — mostly flat, meadow views, some shade. Muddy after rain, so check the forecast and bring old shoes. Note it's closed on Wednesdays.

Stroud Preserve is 571 acres of Chester County land trust property — meadows, wetlands, and wooded trails managed by Natural Lands. The easy meadow loop near the trailhead is the call for families with toddlers and preschoolers: wide paths, interesting views, good birdwatching, and manageable distance. The longer wooded trails are more challenging and worth it with older kids. Note the Wednesday closure — it caught us off guard the first time. Trail surfaces vary; skip it in heavy mud season unless you're into that.
