Which one for which kid
If you've got one stop in you and you're already near downtown, Everhart Park is the easy call — a 2021-built playground near mature trees, restrooms, picnic tables, and a walk from High Street if you're already in the borough. It's not a destination on its own, but it doesn't need to be.
For a toddler specifically, Marshall Square Park is the better pick. West Chester's oldest park added a separate, lower play set and accessible swing set for kids under 5 after the original 2017 climbing structure turned out to be built with bigger kids in mind — so you're not watching a 2-year-old eye equipment that's too tall for them.
If you've got a wider age range or older kids who want more than swings, East Goshen Township Park is worth the extra few minutes' drive — it calls itself the township's "destination playground" for a reason, with a zip line, climbing equipment, and a sand play area, plus a near-mile walking loop and tennis and pickleball courts if anyone else in the group wants in on something different.
Hoopes Park and East Bradford Park are solid backups if the others are crowded — Hoopes doubles as the borough's sports park with a climbing wall and double-chute slide, and East Bradford has a separate tot lot and youth play area connected to a paved perimeter trail, though its playground complex is flagged for a full 2027 replacement, so expect it to look a little dated in the meantime.

Shade is more mixed. Everhart, Marshall Square, and Hoopes all have partial shade from mature trees over part of the play area — none of them is fully covered, so midday summer visits will still need sunscreen.
